Our Energiestor Lithium LifePO4 batteries have double the usable power compared to Lead Acid Batteries and only half the battery weight. Energiestor Lithium batteries last 50 times longer than Lead Acid Batteries. Capable of 5000 cycles at 50% depth of discharge (DOD), or 3000 cycles at 80% DOD far outperforming lead acid batteries. LiFePo4 (Lithium Iron Phosphate) Lithium Batteries are the safest lithium battery chemistry.

Our Lithium Batteries can allow up to 100% depth of discharge, which is double the discharge compared to lead acid batteries which only recommend a discharge of 30-50% of their capacity.

For example, a 100Ah 12V lead acid battery would have 625 watt-hours of energy before taking more than 50% from the battery which could damage it. An Energiestor 100Ah Lithium battery discharge 1152 watt hours at 90% deep discharge. Advanced built-in Battery protection circuit board inside the casing with integrated battery management system (BMS) and safety switch on all models. This also protects against over charging and over discharge helping to maintain a long battery life.

Compatible with'build-in' lead acid battery chargers, although a lithium battery charger is recommended to ensure the longest life. Can have any mounting position, even upside down as long as terminals are protected. No explosive gasses vented like lead acid, therefore do not require ventilation. No Risk of battery acid leakage.

Energiestor Lithium Batteries can still be connected in series and parallel like lead acid. Lithium batteries are now becoming the battery of choice for everything from house energy storage systems to electric cars and multi megawatt grid scale storage batteries. FACT, our 60Ah (768Wh) battery has more usable power in it that a 100Ah Lead Acid battery (625Wh). You can connect up to 8 LiFePO4 batteries (or 8 LiFePo4 100Ah Lithium Battery 12.8V) in parallel giving you a battery bank capacity of up to 800Ah. Series connection is also possible to give 24V and 48V batteries however additional battery balancers are recommended.

Disadvantages of Old Technology Lead Acid Batteries. Lead Acid batteries were not perfect and had their own safety issues, as below. A lead-acid battery must be securely mounted to avoid acid spillage. They discharge a mix of hydrogen and oxygen which is created during higher charging levels. This can activate gas alarms such as carbon-monoxide detectors. Lead Acid battery gas is explosive and if it is ignited, the casing of a battery can be blown apart and its acid released, leading to injury or flesh burns. Accordingly, when charging a battery or disconnecting leads after a charge, ensure there are no naked flames nearby.

Even a lighted cigarette can ignite the gas. It is time to phase out lead acid batteries due to their weight, dangerous acid base and outdated efficiency for these reasons.

1, Limited Useable Capacity, 30 to 50% DOD only. 2, Limited Cycle Life, maybe just 200 to 500 cycles, replacement maybe every 2 years. 3, Slow & Inefficient Charging, the final 20% of lead acid battery capacity can not be fast charged. 4, Wasted Energy, as much as 15% of the energy put into them is wasted due to inherent charging inefficiency. So if you provide 100 amps of power, you're only storing 85 amp hours. 5, Lead acid batteries were very heavy. Depth of Discharge (DOD), 100% DOD will reduce cycle life as this tries to use every bit of power from the battery and makes it work at its hardest. 30% means using only 30% of the battery between each charge/ discharge cycle will give a very long cycle life for many years. As power is discharged from the battery, the battery voltage slowly drops which can be used to determine depth of discharge, (see our battery performance graphs in images).

Cycle Life, all batteries eventually degrade, it just depends on how hard they are worked. Cheap lead acid can degrade in just a few 100% discharges, over discharge, or not properly charging. This causes battery sulfation which significantly reduces the amount of charge the battery can hold. Typical lead acid batteries are usually around 200 to 500 cycles if they are well maintained with no more than 30 to 50% discharge.

Our EnergieStor Lithium batteries can be used for 2000 to 5000 cycles depending on the depth of discharge. One cycle is typical discharge to 30, 50 or 80% capacity followed by a full recharge then the next discharge cycle starts again.

Amp Hours (Ah) The maximum number of amps in the battery discharged over a moderate discharge rate. In simple terms, a 100 amp-hour battery can discharge 1 amp for 100 hours, or 10 amps for 10 hours (time to full discharge = battery Ah divided by discharge current). The number of watt hours in a battery is simply the battery voltage multiplied by the Battery Ah, i. 12.8 x 100Ah = 1280Wh.

Energiestor Lithium batteries have no minimum charge current. These batteries are fully compatible with solar charging systems so long as max charge current is not exceeded, see battery specifications sheet.

Max charge current and max discharge current does vary depending which battery model you are using 24, 36 or 48 battery systems are made using batteries in series. If you need a higher discharge current than specified, 2 or more lithium batteries can be parallel, ie. 2x100Ah in parallel have a 200A discharge rate, or surge 400A for a few seconds. If using more than one of Lithium batteries you MUST use a battery balancer.

Lead acid battery chargers MUST not be used on a regular basis (only in emergency) as this will damage the battery. A lead acid battery charger maybe as low as 13.6V generally up to 14.4V.
